In about 10 hours my plane will be taking off to New Mexico. I will be there for 9 days attending the Taos Writer’s Conference and exploring New Mexico. To ensure I have a great time and maximum benefits (and maybe breakthroughs), I have adopted the mindset that I will:
A. Have fun - appreciate the gifts of New Mexico and my fellow writers.
B. Be highly coachable - open to new and diverse ideas, eager to soak it in.
C. Set my fears aside associated with sharing my work with others - I will share my projects and writing broadly.
D. Set my fears aside in conjunction with interviewing Tony Hillerman. It’s silly, I know, but I am a bundle of nerves.
E. Not let the little hassles of travel get me down - I’m in wonderful New Mexico!
F. Be active - explore, explore, explore.
G. Resist the natural urge to be a complete introvert and do everything on my own. I do want to have some ME time, but I also want to meet new folks and socialize. Well, maybe it is not accurate to say I WANT this, but I know I should spend time with others and that I will be glad I did later.
I am hoping for a few breakthroughs and I think adopting this mindset will be helpful.
Over the next week, blogging may be light - or not - who knows how much time I will have or how inspired I will be!
