Tuesday Tidbits - Useful Stuff for Professionals

Now that I have gone to the dark side, I have an interest in mobile applications. And as a road warrior, I have an interest in tips that make travel easier. Check out this helpful post from Dwayne about mobile Seat Guru. Very cool.

There has been a meme going around the blogosphere where people share five things that people probably don't know about themselves and then tag five more people to do the same. Ellen, from Brain Based Business, tagged me this week (I almost thought I was going to escape this one!). So here are five things you might not know about me:

1. I have a weird interest in scented soaps. I buy much more than any human can use in a lifetime and am immediately drawn to the scented soap section of any store.

2. I once lived in a tiny adobe cabin in the middle of the woods in New Mexico. It was 3 miles off of the paved road and had hauled water, dirt floors (covered by brick), and a wood stove as the only source of heat. This was not a vacation home, I lived there. Loved it.

3. I once worked in a 125 year old paper plant in a tiny town in Chillicothe Ohio. The entire town smelled of paper making and one in seven residents (that includes the kids) worked at the mill. One paper machine was two blocks long and four stories high. I got to ride around the plant in a golf cart - that was my favorite part.

4. I once ran after Sting and his entourage in Washington DC after seeing him in the Three Penny Opera. They were heading toward the Mall (not shopping) and I was in formal wear having an after show drink at the Willard. I never caught him. This was about 20 years ago....

5. I once had to work with the FBI on a big cocaine drug bust at a hotel where I was the night manager. Their agents dressed in our room service uniforms and we helped them  access to the room. They seized several huge bags of drugs. It was very exciting. This was in Tampa Florida.

There you go. Instead of tagging five other bloggers, I am going to share five burning questions I have about the future. Feel free to weigh in.

Lisa, these are fun and since I am in Ireland with my seniot VP, Robyn McMaster, she too was keen to read these fun five.

Ok, I'll be honest with you now Lisa. I LOVED the way you altered the game into questions that intrigue!! Not surprising - it's kind of why I wanted to tag you in the first place. People love to read the stuff we often leave out. Thanks for letting us do so here - it showed me another example of intelligence and creativity - before I have another full round of sessions on the wonder of the brain:-)

5. I have no wants. I'm a happy bunny, and a little busy and on the road too much. If anything, I want to be home tonight playing Pokemon with my son and listening to Lemony Snicket CDs with my daughter. Management is one thing, management craft is another thing, but the practice that is nurtured in a rich life well lived is transcendent.

Oh my god! Your 5 things list beats any that I've read so far- Sting, FBI and a cabin in the wilderness! How cool is that!

I'll take the 3rd, and I'm hoping the answer to that one is: social honesty.
