During this 26 minute podcast, I chat with Jack Mitchell, author of Hug Your People: The Proven Way to Hire, Inspire, and Recognize Your Employees and Achieve Remarkable Results. As you might probably guess, I got this book (as I do with other podcast guests) for free. That said, after reading Hug Your People and talking with Jack, I ordered several copies, in both book and CD format, to share with a management team I am working with. This would be a great book for a team to read and then discuss during a few brown bag lunches. It is simple, but also elegant. I am amazed at how common it is to find a workplace that suffers from low morale or is not a positive place. I am working on a website called www.leadingwithkindness.com where we highlight five companies that lead with kindness and give advice on how other companies can follow their example. Jack Mitchell's company is one of the five companies because of the companies success and work environment. After spending several days at his stores I would take his advice very seriously if I was a working at a place suffering from low moral, because his stores are uplifting and enjoyable places which is a major reason why the stores are so successful.
